What is Two Factor Authentication

Two Factor Authentication or 2FA.  2FA is an authentication method that requires the user to provide a second verification factor to gain access to the Cloudamize console.  This is a core component of a strong identity and access management or IAM policy.  This helps to decrease the likelihood of a successful cyber attack.

What’s New

When you first open https://console.cloudamize.com/login.jsp you will notice that the page is different. You will start by entering your User ID so that we can check if 2FA is setup prior to entering the rest of your credentials.

If 2FA is disabled, you will be prompted to only enter your password.

When it is enabled, you will be required to enter your password and the code from your authenticator app.

How to Set It Up

Log into the Cloudamize console and navigate to the Settings page. You will find the 2FA management in Account Info under User Profile.

To enable 2FA you will need to click on the Edit Info button.

In order to edit the user settings, you will need to enter the password first and then click the Submit button.

This will take you to the page where you will be able to setup 2FA. Just click on the Setup 2FA button.

You will see a QR code displayed that you can scan with an authenticator of your choice, as long as it supports Time-based One Time Passwords, like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, OneLogin Protect, etc.

Once you scan the code, your app should be connected to Cloudamize.

  1. Enter the code in the box

  2. Click the Enable 2FA button

  3. Click the Save Info button

2FA is now setup and you are can start using this feature.

How to Use It

When 2FA is enabled, when you log in you will have to enter your password and the generated code from your Authenticator app to log in.

That’s it!

How to Manage It

You can also disable this feature by simply going back to the Account Info page and selecting the Edit Info button.

In order to edit the user settings, you will need to enter the password first and then click the Submit button.

There are two methods of disabling 2FA. You can click the Re-Setup 2FA button and click the Save Info button.

OR you can

  1. Enter the code from your Authenticator app

  2. Click the Disable 2FA button

  3. Click Save Info button

In both cases, you will see that your settings were saved and the 2FA is now Disabled.
